The first full week of June 2012 had Downtown OKC crackling with a wholly new kind of buzz and energy: The Thunder clinched its first NBA Finals berth, and the DeadCENTER Film Festival kicked off its 12th year with quality film and fun events. Most screenings were sold out, and each event offered a peek at Oklahoma City’s booming creative community. I had an opportunity to review screeners for the festival, but it was amazing to see some of the same films on the big screen in sold out rooms, often with an opportunity to meet the filmmakers themselves.
